This Lord’s Day we will be preaching through 1 Peter 1:6-9. Up to this point Peter’s focus has been on the joy that is meant to mark the people of God. Now, Peter is acknowledging that he is writing to a people who are going through difficulty and hardship. Yet, even in the midst of this recognition, Peter is calling them to be a people who rejoice. How can this be? How can the Christian rejoice in the midst of hardship, suffering, persecution? Peter’s words are deeply instructive for the Christian, so join us as we seek to understand how we are to see and understand the trials of life.
